Recently, a wave of large retail chains in the US are beginning to carry CBD hemp products. Due to CBD’s many health and wellness benefits, stores such as Walgreens and CVS, after noticing the demand for CBD-infused products. This created a domino effect leading to Rite aid and Vitamin Shoppe also to start carrying CBD products. With President Trump signing the farm bill, it paved the way for these companies to start introducing CBD.
CVS
CBD is short for cannabinol, the property inside the cannabis plant that doesn’t intoxicate individuals. There are reports that CBD is helpful for alleviating symptoms of many ailments. CBD has become popular because it offers relief to symptoms without having to use harmful pharmaceutical medications.
This led to CVS enacting on the bold move to be the first retail chain to start introducing CBD products. However, they won’t be carrying multiple forms of hemp-based CBD, just topicals like lotions and creams, targeting and combatting areas of physical pain like arthritis. CVS decided to unroll CBD topical products in 800 stores nationwide in select in states.
Walgreens
Shortly after CVS unveiled their plans to begin carrying CBD products in their stores, Walgreens responded by revealing their plans to sell CBD products in 1,500 stores nationwide in select states as well.
Rite Aid
Following the large retailers, Rite Aid decided to test the waters with CBD as well. Rite Aid will test sales in two states, Oregon and Washington. Similar to CVS, Rite Aid will start by carrying CBD topicals.
Vitamin Shoppe
The most recent large company to hop on the CBD train is Vitamin Shoppe. The retailer plans to begin selling CBD supplements such as CBD oral gels. The oral gel pills will contain full spectrum hemp extract containing CBD. They plan also plan to expand their selection of products by soon offering liquid drops and more hemp-based CBD gels.
