Recently CBD has been all over the news. With the hemp and cannabis industry constantly changing, it has received major coverage. Due to all the new products, businesses, and large stores pursuing CBD, it’s not hard to see why.
What is CBD?
CBD is the non-psychoactive (doesn’t get you “high”) property found within the hemp and cannabis plant. Most people are experienced with or know about, THC the property that does induce mind-alternating effects (gets you “high”).
CBD in Stores
Recently large retailers like CVS, Walgreens, and even Barney’s New York are to begin carrying CBD products. Cannabis and hemp are coming out from the shadows and entering the mainstream. CBD comes in many forms such as edibles, beverages, flowers, concentrates, oils, and creams. The different varieties of CBD have led to retailers having the ability to pick products that appeal to their target audiences.
CVS and Walgreens want to provide natural remedies as an alternative to traditional medications. However, CVS and Walgreens won’t be selling CBD products nationwide, they will only be sold in select states. CVS plans to launch products in around 800 stores, while Walgreens has stated they be launching in 1,500 stores. With large retail chains like these, it brings legitimacy to the industry and further progresses the movement.
CBD products are even being sold at high-end retailers like Barney’s New York. They recently announced that they will be carrying CBD-infused face washes, masks, and moistures to meet the growing demand for CBD. Due to CBD having anti-inflammatory properties it has been reported to be effective for treating acne and helping maintain overall skin health.
Senior vice president, divisional merchandise manager, Jennifer Miles reported Barney’s had been seeking a CBD skincare line. "as it is becoming more mainstream and customers are learning about the benefits, and how to add these products to their wellness routine.”
