Top Historic Sites in Savannah | City Market

219 W Bryan St, Savannah, GA 31401, United States

City Market is a multi-purpose project in the nation’s largest historic district in downtown Savannah, Georgia. The rehabilitation of the 4-block area began in 1985. The result is a physical facility that could not be replicated economically today. City Market has established itself as an entertainment, dining, art and retail destination in downtown Savannah.

The new City Market district was eventually built with the decaying remains of the Old City Market, and the Ellis Square parking garage was demolished in 2006 and moved underground so that public space could be restored and transformed into the social hub that it is now. Today, life, charm and quirk are restored to the City Market, and the lively marketplace is now one of Savannah’s most popular spots for restaurants, art galleries, shopping and nightlife.

Vinnie Van Go Go

Sometimes, no matter who you are, you’re just in the mood to have a good slice of pizza. Look no further than Vinnie Van Go Go. Order it with a slice or with a whole pie. They have a large pizza with a thin, hearty Neapolitan crust. The dough is freshly made every night, and it’s also delivered on bikes if you want them to bring the goods to you! The sauce options are either traditional, pesto, or white, and some of the most unique toppings include broccoli, feta, artichoke, salami, anchovies, spicy Italian sausages, and, of course, all your favorite toppings.

The indoor seating is limited, but there is ample room at the outdoor tables in the City Market courtyard or under the overhang on the side of the building. But be sure to make a pit stop at the ATM beforehand, because it’s just cash!

Belford’s is a tried and tested establishment that has been stable and reliable in the City Market for many years, with its high-level atmosphere and menu. You can choose to sit inside with a full view of the kitchen or outside on the back patio and watch the passerby in the courtyard.

Open for brunch (with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine), lunch and dinner, Belford’s serves a wide range of popular dishes including crab cakes, criollo lobster ravioli and their famous steaks! White chocolate bread pudding and cheesecake are also some of the best in town, so if you’re looking for a place to have a nice romantic evening out, look no further.
