Things to Do in Heritage

Heritage is blessed with an abundance of fun attractions for residents and visitors to enjoy. Here’s a short list of our favorites:

Ground Control has one of the coolest facilities in America. It’s unlike any other trampoline park you have or will ever visit. The moment you walk in, you will notice how the trampolines are flush with the ground. No decks = easier access and better safety. You will find over 20,000 square feet of pure adrenaline with trampolines, a ninja warrior course, dodgeball, stunt fall, rock climbing wall, and HOLOGATE Virtual Reality among other attractions. Ground Control is the place to be, allowing children and adults alike to test their limits and “fly” in a fun and safe environment.

SeaWorld San Antonio is a 250-acre (100 ha) marine mammal park, oceanarium and animal theme park in the Westover Hills District of San Antonio, Texas, on the city’s west side. It is the largest of the three parks in the SeaWorld chain owned by SeaWorld Entertainment and one of the world’s largest marine-life theme parks focused on conservation, education and animal rescue. The other SeaWorld parks are in San Diego, California and Orlando, Florida. It is a member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA) and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Sazón Mexican Café, established in 2008, was created as a gathering place where friends and families could enjoy each other’s company and dine on award-winning traditional Mexican dishes. Sazón quickly developed a reputation as one of San Antonio’s best family-owned restaurants. Sazón is the Mexican word for “flavor” or “seasoning” but to the family and staff at Sazón it means much more. Right from the minute you walk through our door, you immediately feel that sense of “familia.” It’s the ability to offer the special touches that bring our customers back again and again.

Alamo Drafthouse was founded in Austin, TX by Tim and Karrie League, who were driven by a simple passion to watch movies and enjoy food and beer. Their first theater at 409 Colorado Street was a hand-built one-screen operation that initially featured second-run titles at discount rates. The League’s passion for programming quickly rose past the standard midnight repertory theater fare. Soon, what was once a non-described parking garage became a hub for cinephiles far beyond central Texas. The venue hosted film premieres and visiting filmmakers in its first year. Over the years, the original location of Colorado Street has become a laboratory for more innovative programming and events, and the Leagues have begun to open more and more theaters offering a fresh blend of Hollywood product and indie fare. Today, Alamo Drafthouse has dozens of locations all over the United States, with many more to come. Each location is managed with the same dedication and careful attention to film-inspired food and drink, crystal-clear visual and audio presentation, and deliciously fun special events, all inspired by the first years of Colorado Street.

Living in Heritage

Residents of Heritage are blessed to live in an area full of nature while also being quite close to city life.  There is never a shortage of coffee shops, parks or shopping centers to enjoy within a five-minute drive of Heritage. Residents are also able to enjoy a rich spiritual life at the following houses of worship:

The Catholic Church of Saint Rose in Lima began as a parish on 29 September 1981, by decree of Archbishop Patrick F. Flores, DD (born 26 Jul 1929, died 9 Jan 2017). The parish was taken from the western sections of the Catholic Church of Saint Vincent de Paul. Monsignor Kevin Ryan was appointed founding pastor and served in the parish from 1981 to 1991. The parish acquired 10,3 acres of land in February 1982 to serve as a site for future buildings. Initially, meetings were held at the “Pete and Bernice Pavilion,” but later, an old barracks building was acquired and used as a place of worship for five years.  In 1987 the present Parish Hall was built and utilized as a meeting space and a worship space, until the building of the current church in 2005.

Jesus’ Church began in 2006 with three people and a word from God. Their heart is to enthrone Jesus as their Pastor and preach His message, do ministry His way, and bring people into an experience with God like we see in the Bible. This means they are a Christ-centered church where the Holy Spirit is active in worship, message, prayer, ministry, and church life. They are focused on glorifying Christ and being His people, His hands and feet where we live and around the world. They are humbly built on the service and sacrifice of many, not the personality or style of one. They are His church, which is why they are known as Jesus’ Church – Christ the King!

The Northwest Hills Christian Church is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational community that follows Jesus together. At NWHCC, they gave up the illusion that they can achieve perfection, because it’s too hard to pretend. Instead, they struggle together to know Jesus sincerely, to be in community, and to make an impact on the world around us. When they miss, they lean on the generous grace of God – and try to share grace with others. They  would like to be known to welcome anyone, challenge everyone, and surprise people in all the right ways.

The Cleft of the Rock Church is the perfect place for imperfect people seeking purpose. Their salvation, their sufficiency, and their strength are in the Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us when we were still in sin, so that we might have life. By accepting the newness of life in Christ, we will live to the fullest, honoring Him with our time, talent and treasure. Bearing in mind that God is sovereign, he often works miracles through the actions of men and women.

Shelby’s Registered Childcare has been in operation since 1990. A high percentage of their business is from referrals. They keep a small group size of 6 children or less to allow plenty of one- on- one interaction.

The Pinnacle Kids Academy is an early education center offering programs to foster children’s interaction and cognitive development. They have well-equipped, age-appropriate classrooms and playgrounds that would make you want to put your child with them. Their main focus is on safety and care. They have a dedicated and experienced group of child care providers who provide high quality services to children entrusted to their care.
