The Lackland Air Force Base is a U.S. air force base located in Bexar County, Texas (IATA: SKF, ICAO: KSKF, FAALID: SKF). Base of the Air Education and Trainers Command (AETC) and an Enclave of San Antonio City is with in jurisdiction of the 802d Mission Support Group. It is the only access to the Basic Military Training (BMT) recruited by the Air Force.Â
In compliance with Congressional law adopting the Recommendations for a 2005 Basis of Realignment and Closure Commissi, Lackland AFB is a part of the Joint Basis of San Antonio, the Randolph Air Force Base and the Lacklands Air Force Base combined on October 1, 2010,[1] the Joint Basis of San Antonio (JBSA), including Lackland Air Force Base, was created. The legislation ordered that the three adjacent but separate military installations would be consolidated into a single common basis –one out of 12 common bases created by law in the United States.Â
A renowned Air Force facility in Texas is Lackland Air Force Base. Fort Sam Houston is the oldest of three plants in the San Antonio Joint Base located in the middle of San Antonio. Fort Sam is the primary center for supervising the whole joint base, which falls to the 502d air force wing, due to its strategic position in the “Military city USA” and Bexar County (pronounced bear).
WEAPONS Policy
The entrance controller must be notified that they have and intend to transport private weapons. The 802nd Security Forces Squadron has to register private firearms for all residents residing in government facilities or contract housing. Any item that may fire a projectile, except pellets and airsoft weapons, that is private weapons required to be registered. Newcomers to the JBSA-Lackland home with private-owned firearms shall have 72-hour registration period, Bldg. 5612 or they will be in violation of Directive 31-101 of the JBSA-Lackland Firearms Program, which may lead to a charge under Article 92. As well as the licensing, weapons kept in base homes must be in the secured storage or a tamper-resistant mechanical block or other safety device must be equipped with guns. Air Force Form 1314 (Firearms Registration) must be subscribed by the Airman Commander to up to five firearms registered in the Department of Defense Forms (Form 2760 or Ammunition Qualification).
