The James Lee House is a historic house at 690 Adams Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, also known as the Harsson-Goyer-Lee House. It, along with the adjacent Woodruff-Fontaine Building, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The two houses in the historic district of the Victorian Village are included.

William Harsson constructed the 8,100-square-foot home in 1848. Charles Wesley Goyer married Harsson ‘s daughter, Laura, who bought the house in 1852. Goyer had it expanded by the architecture firm of Edward Culliatt Jones and Matthias H. Baldwin in 1871, after seeing their work in designing the neighboring Woodruff-Fontaine House.

In 1890, the house was purchased by James Lee, a riverboat captain who had been educated at Princeton University. It became the James Lee Memorial Art Academy in 1925, a forerunner of the Memphis Art College (formerly the Memphis Art Academy). In 1929, the city of Memphis assumed ownership. The house remained abandoned for several years after the art school relocated to a new location in 1959. It was used in a music video by the Canadian indie rock group Tokyo Police Club for their 2008 album “In a Cave.”

In 2012, new private owners bought the empty building. A construction and renovation project of $2 million began the following year, turning the house into a luxury bed and breakfast. A property tax reduction was provided by the city of Memphis to encourage its renovation. In April 2014, the bed and breakfast opened for business.
