Built on 13 acres of land with a long driveway leading up to it has been preserved since 1977 as an homage to this great icon who gave us so much joy through music; Graceland is now open for public tours 7 days a week 365 days per year where visitors can see many personal items such as clothes worn during a performance or at the White House reception plus there are various artifacts like gold records from all over the world as well paperwork documenting Elvis’ career which spans more than three decades. 

Graceland opened to the public on June 7, 1982, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. In 2006 it became a National Historic Landmark for being one of America’s most visited privately owned properties with 650,000 annual visitors.

The Stax Museum of American Soul Music is the only museum dedicated to exploring and preserving America’s rich soul music heritage. Visitors can explore a variety of exhibits, browse through records, and immerse themselves in interactive experiences that give them an up-close look at some jaw-dropping original costumes from iconic performers like Otis Redding or see recordings being made on vintage equipment used by this legendary studio during its heyday.

The Stax Museum has been praised for the quality of artifacts on exhibit and their introductory film played at the start of a self-guided tour. With lots to read, critics still described it as intriguing with regards to how engaging you can find yourself in reading about Memphis’ history while still providing ample opportunities like dancing or taking breaks from your research by just relaxing on the Express Yourself dance floor.

It has been a site of historic importance for both Downtown and blues music history with many world-renowned clubs opening up along its 1.8 miles to East Street (2.9 km). Beale hosts numerous festivals and outdoor performances that regularly draw big crowds from all over the city, making it one of America’s top tourist destinations!

Beale Street Music Festival is one of the biggest festivals in Memphis, Tennessee. The festival takes place every May and includes live performances from popular artists that perform all genres. Beale Street’s Historic District has been added to the US Civil Rights Trail list for 2020!

  • Mud Island, River Park, Mud Island, Memphis, TN 38103

Mud Island Park is a great place to visit. There are many cool things you can do there like exploring the river, seeing an impressive performance hall and museum pieces! You will also get beautiful views of Memphis while hanging out at Mud Island park! The Mississippi River Museum has exhibits that show different aspects of life on this iconic waterway which makes it worth visiting even if you don’t have time for anything else. 

From 10 am-5 pm every day (except Sunday), they offer tours from outside or inside perspectives with plenty more fun stuff in between too such as their talking exhibit “Darby’s Diary” where kids learn about archaeological artifacts by reading through Darby’s diary entries written back when he was just 11 years old during his first year.

The Memphis Zoo is a world-renowned zoo located in the heart of Midtown, Tennessee. Home to over 3,500 animals from 500 species and dozens of different habitats that span 76 acres with 55 devoted entirely to this expansive park; it’s considered one of the best zoos in America!

The Memphis Zoo is home to a plethora of exhibits, such as Once Upon A Farm and Cat Country. There are also some interactive displays for children like Primate Canyon or Dragon’s Lair! You can see the rainforest in Animals of the Night, or reach new heights with escalators into Tropical Bird House; you might even get wet at Herpetarium! The Aquarium has plenty of aquatic animals – from penguins and seals to barracudas and piranhas- while African Veldt lets visitors experience what it means by “porcupine on patrol.” China houses pandas that were acquired when President Nixon visited Beijing. 

The zoo has many attractions, such as the carousel with its picturesque view of the Once Upon A Farm exhibit. There’s a miniature train to take you around and three themed gift stores where families can find something for everyone on their list–even if it is just your favorite animal-shaped cookies! The kids will love visiting this place that features an extensive playground built specifically for them; after all, they’re only little once so make sure they have a great time at the zoo.

There’s always something going on in Nonconnah, from restaurants to parks, so you’ll never be bored if you decide to move to this area of town! The Castalia Church is a church that has found the balance between material and spiritual growth for its congregants. It emphasizes cultivating individuals, not just those in Memphis but also throughout the world. The congregation does this by reaching out to people who are suffering both physically and spiritually because of Jesus Christ’s imminent return; they have committed themselves to serve Him wherever He asks them to go.

Driven by the vision of founding pastor and self-proclaimed prophet, Perry Maples, 27 individuals gathered in Memphis on July 4th, 1976 to found a church that would “alter the world.” The Apostolic Deliverance Temple Church of Jesus Christ was founded from humble beginnings. They met together for prayer in an auditorium Lemoyne Garden Auditorium before erecting their building. Over time it has become one of three major congregations located near Germantown Parkway–a busy intersection with heavy traffic coming from all directions. Nowadays you’ll find people stopping off here after work or school as well as those taking part in services every Sunday morning and Wednesday night service.

Nonconnah also has several fantastic parks, schools, public libraries, and schools to offer its residents. Residents from the neighboring areas use these facilities because they are all world-class, well-maintained, and clean. Here’s a quick rundown of places to see in Nonconnah:

KIPP Memphis Collegiate Schools (KMCS) is a public charter school that started in 2002 and has since grown to 7 schools. KMIPS serves over 3,000 children across North and South Memphis. This non-profit network of college-prep schools welcomes all students no matter their background or ethnicity because they believe education should be free for every child regardless of where they live or what the economic situation at home might be like; after 20 years it’s clear this approach is working as 80,000 kids are currently enrolled in these colleges preparatory institutions nationwide!

Winchester Elementary has been tasked with nurturing and developing each student’s personal and academic achievements. All stakeholders have an important role in their kids’ intellectual, social, emotional development.

Ever since Memphis bought the land, formerly known as Lea’s Woods, for $110,000 on November 14th, 1901 and it was positioned along the city’s eastern and northern boundaries at that time. Overton Park became part of a larger plan which included Riverside Park (later MLK Memorial River Parade) and The Memphis Parkway System designed by landscape architect George Kessler. In 1906 construction began after planning had begun in 1901.

John Overton, one of the founders of Memphis, is honored at this park. The name “Overton” was chosen in a competition held by the Evening Scimitar to name their new park; the other finalists were Andrew Jackson – founder and president for Tennessee from 1829-1837 and James Winchester who served as mayor on four occasions between 1797 and 1830. On July 25th, 1902 they finally chose Mr. Overton. 

The naming of Overton Park is a symbolic representation of Memphis’ commitment to progress, as well as its respect and appreciation for those who helped it get where it is today.

T.O. Fuller State Park was the first state park east of the Mississippi River to open up for African Americans, and it is named after a famous educator who dedicated his life to empowering black people across Tennessee by teaching them how to read with determination in an environment that would not tolerate their culture or race. A time period when being educated as well as literate meant powerful things!

The park is an oasis for nature-loving families looking to get in touch with their inner child. The wide range of outdoor activities available at the park, including hiking trails, playgrounds, and ball fields as well as pools and splash pads make it a great place to spend time outdoors whether you’re alone or with friends!
