By service and leadership, the graduates make a difference. Students change their culture in ways that fuel their communities and affect thousands of lives, both large and small.

NVC is situated in one of the fastest growing areas in San Antonio and continues to serve thousands of students with quality education. Students and tourists coming from all walks of life find the campus beautiful and an ideal place to learn.

Academics

Northwest Vista students may explore a wide range of courses offered in the campus. As a community college, NVC offers programs in Arts Associates (AA), Science Associates (AS), Teaching Associates in Arts (AAT), Applied Science Associates (AAS), Completion Certificates, and Marketable Skills Awards.

There is also the opportunity for enrolled students to take courses that can be applied to many higher education institutions. The college has several articulation agreements with nearby universities such as San Antonio’s University of Texas, Texas State University–San Marcos, and the Incarnate Word University. These 2 + 2 articulation agreements are designed to facilitate student acceptance and academic transfer from participating community colleges such as NVC to a participating 4-year college or university in Texas.

Northwest Vista College’s current catalog consists of a 46-hour core curriculum approved by the Coordinating Board of Texas Higher Education (THECB). The THECB mandates all Texas public colleges and universities to instill in a student’s degree program at least 42 hours of core curriculum studies. After completing the core curriculum of NVC, students can transfer to any public institution in Texas without worrying about loss of credit during the transfer process. The satisfactory courses will be transferred as a block as long as the core curriculum is completed and the student will not be required to take further courses at the transfer institution unless a larger core curriculum has been approved by the THECB at that institution.

Campus life

NVC students can take part while on campus in many clubs and organizations. Typically, there is a specific event known as “Club Rush” every semester in which the various campus clubs and organizations try to promote their activities while recruiting new members. Each semester, new clubs and organizations are often added as students come up with new ideas for them. Currently located in the Cypress Campus Center, the Wildcat Activities Center continues to help the group in order to get sufficient number of members to join.
