OP. Schnabel Park is a hidden gem in the heart of Elk Grove, California. It’s located right next to the beautiful Laguna Creek and it has tons of amenities for you to enjoy! The History

O.P. Schnabel Park has been in the city of San Antonio since 1964, and is one of its oldest parks! It’s originally named Bandera Road but it got renamed when O.P., a well-known figure for improving visual appeal through clean up campaigns throughout the area, passed away in 1977 after he made his final contribution to this park by naming it ‘O’ P. ‘s Place’.

Schnabel was widely known for his efforts to “keep San Antonio clean and beautiful,” and mounted many clean-up and beautification campaigns. He used catchy phrases such as “nice people don’t litter” and “be a beauty bug, not a litter bug.” Many thought that “O.P.” stood for Old Push Broom, but the letters were actually Schnabel’s initials. The Beautify San Antonio Association is named for Sadie Ray and Waldo Graff who, together with Schnabel, devoted their lives to the organization. O.P. Schnabel Park has been called “the cleanest little park in Texas.

OP. Schnabel Park is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends.
