It is bounded by Military Drive to the north, Loop 1604 to the east, Leon Valley to the west and Wetmore Road to the south. The Los Jardines Neighborhood Association (LJNA) was organized in 1984 and represents over 1,100 households.
The neighborhood is named for the many gardens located within it. In its early days, the area was rural and home to cotton farms. After World War II, the military moved in and established Lackland Air Force Base; eventually, much of the land was developed into residential neighborhoods.
