Love this park. The trees and well-preserved flowers are very different. Loving the field of green, but hard it is not. Has a car park. Unbelievable ground for soccer. It has a wide playground for children you wouldn't think if you glance around the park. Fantastic for bringing horses. It has no toilet. It has no shower. Separate enclosures in the playground look great for children too. A small oasis, clean and not homeless, great dog's friendly spot. Good for watching people. It's clean and safe. It's safe. The field is not very good, but overall every good.
Square Franklin was designed and laid out in 1790. It is situated to the west side of the city at the crossroads of Montgomery Road, Julian Avenue, W Bryan St on the north and W Congress St on the south. In 1791 the name was given to Benjamin Franklin, who worked from 1768 to 1778 as an officer in Georgia, and who died in 1790.
The square had a water tower 40 feet high to supply heat to the residents. It has been built with the result that the city's increasing population overwhelmed the previous system of public and private surface wells. Before filtering and pumping the water to the water tower, the water was removed from the Savannah River in the west of the Ogelthorpe Canal Basin. The Water Tank Plaza, Water Tower Square and Reservoir Square were also renamed Franklin Square.
In 1935, when US Highway 17 was routed on Montgomery Street, the place was destroyed but restored in the mid eighties. This square occupies the west side of the shopping area of the City Hall. In 2007 a memorial was opened on Franklin Square in honor of the volunteers from Haiti, created by sculptor James Mastin, that fought with Casimir Pulaski during the siege of Savannah. A 12-year-old Henri Christophe, who became chief of the Haitian military and king of Haiti, can be seen in the painting.
