Whitaker Park

1540 Holcomb Lake Rd, Marietta, GA 30062, United States

Whitaker Park is a lovely, family-friendly neighborhood park. The walking path around it and the playground are well-kept. The playground contains a swing set that can seat an adult and a young child face to face. There is plenty of shade, a walking path, and a variety of climbing and sliding equipment. There is a bathroom and a small lending library, and all of the equipment works and is safe. The running path is relatively smooth, and the grass and trees are in good condition. In addition, a portion of the play area is shaded, which is fantastic.

This is a serene and tranquil park. It's one of the tinier ones within Marietta's city borders. This is the best spot to go if you want to relax and get some fresh air.

Games to Play in the Park for Kids

It may not be difficult to get children to the park, but if you leave them to their own devices once there, they will not have much fun. This occasionally leads to them engaging in undesirable activity simply for the sake of having something to do. Plan ahead of time and look for interesting activities that you can all do together to engage your children. Here are some enjoyable outdoor park games for children:

  1. The Frozen Tag

One individual must be designated as "it," and everyone else must flee from him. When the person who is "it" makes any kind of contact with another player, that player becomes frozen and is unable to move. Only another player can unfreeze the person by crawling through the frozen player's legs. The game continues until whoever is "it" manages to freeze everyone.

  1. Hot and Cold

This game is played with a little object such as a button or a small ball. While everyone else turns away and closes their eyes, one person must hide the chosen object somewhere. While the others are seeking, the hider is permitted to give them clues such as "warm," "cold," and "hot," with "hot" indicating proximity to the concealed object and "cold" indicating distance.

  1. Ship Captain

You'll need to make something to serve as the ship for this game. This can be a large picnic mat or blanket large enough to accommodate all of the children playing, or it can be a dedicated place, such as the sandbox at the playground. Next, teach everyone what the orders are, such as "Run to the Ship!" in which case everyone must run to the ship; "Hit the Deck" in which case everyone must lay on their tummies; "Port" in which case everyone should run to the left or "Starboard" in which case everyone should run to the right, and so on.

Anyone who makes a mistake is eliminated from the game, but they can still participate by becoming sharks who tag other players. Once you have one or two “sharks”, you can add “Shark attack” to the list of orders. Here the sharks try to “attack” anyone who is in the “water” by tagging them while everyone runs to the “ship.”

  1. Chain Tag

When the person who is "it" catches someone, the rest of the players must join hands and hunt them down. Whoever is apprehended becomes a new link in the network. When the chain is complete, the game is over and there are no more players to chase.

  1. Hide-and-Seek

Everyone knows how to play hide and seek, but just in case you don’t, here is how. Everyone except the person who is “it” will need to hide. Whoever is “it” will need to look for everyone else. The game only ends when everyone is found.
