Smith-McDowell House Museum - Top Places to Visit in Asheville

Smith-McDowell House Museum

283 Victoria Rd, Asheville, NC 28801

The Smith-McDowell House is in Asheville, N.C. It is the first mansion and oldest house to survive in Buncombe County and the oldest brick building. The building for James McConnell Smith was built in the 1840s. The admission price is certainly worth it! Personnel was polite and knowledgeable. There is a Tea Exhibit Month for Afternoon and you can always enjoy a free tea cup! Worth checking out, interesting, and lovely historic stop! Beautiful place for a lesson in local history. There are many things. The rooms and shows have done a nice job. The instructor did a great job telling us the house's history. Very kind people. Very friendly. The history is interesting. Tea was perfect at the start. Make sure you profit from it. A house with rooms and a personal guide from different times. Instead. Gives an insight into local history. (Free entry with the application Zoom County Library)

The museum provides an insight into days that are long lost as the oldest well-known house on Asheville (1840). In the early twentieth century, the building was expanded and rebuilt to a great extent. But several rooms each representing a particular decade were refurbished between 1840 and 1890. The furnishings are representative and several pieces were owned and donated by descendants by the McDowell family. The tour is self-directed but, as we were the first guests, the employee at the time spent a lot of time researching and answering questions about the house and its past. Allow about an hour to see the house and exhibits properly.

You would love this house if you ever had a guide who answered all of your questions. Not only do the tour guides know their history, they will also take more time to answer your questions. You will appreciate this trip if you like local history. This house has a lot of history and beautiful antique furniture. Would recommend a visit if you are into rich history!
