3. Saltgrass Steak House

11812 Bandera Road, Helotes, Texas 78023, United States

About: Their story began in the 1800s, when Texas was home to millions of Longhorn cattle. Texas ranchers prospered like never before, as beef became a newfound favorite in the North. Longhorns were driven to the Texas Gulf Coast every winter to graze on the rich coastal salt grass. When they went to market, they followed the famous Salt Grass Trail, which is renowned for producing the best beef in Texas. Four riders resurrected this historic trail ride in 1952 to support the opening of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The trip has since evolved into an annual commemoration of the original Texas spirit. In this historic trail, the first Saltgrass Steak House still stands. The taste of an open campfire is recreated at Saltgrass Steak House. Perfectly chargrilled steaks, chicken, and seafood. Breads, soups, and desserts are all prepared from scratch on a regular basis. Saltgrass Steak House's campfire-style cuisine is no longer exclusive to hungry diners in Texas. The original Texas steakhouse is now open in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada, Arkansas, Alabama, and Mississippi, serving great cuts of chargrilled beef and famous down-home hospitality. The menu features Certified Angus Beef® steaks that sizzle alone or with a variety of toppings, capturing the flavor of an open campfire.
