Alamo Distilling Co. 

This bustling 4-year-old distillery makes its own bourbon and vodka, as well as bottling and product development for other businesses. Because of the busy schedule, a tour must be booked at least one day in advance. Alamo is one of the few local distilleries that offers tours during the week, but they won’t be open on weekends until next year when they move into a larger facility. For $10, you get a 90-minute tour as well as three samples of Ranger Creek beers or whiskeys, including its. Rimfire single malt with mesquite-smoked grains, 36 Texas Bourbon,.44 Rye Whiskey The 2 p.m. tour concludes before the tasting room and gift shop open, giving you plenty of time to browse and shop before the regulars arrive.

Rebecca Creek Distillery 

Under the live oak trees at Rebecca Creek, it’s been all about whiskey and music since 2009. Despite the distillery’s foray into the national market with Rebecca Creek Whiskey and blended Texas Ranger Whiskey, the distillery retains a strong sense of place. On Fridays, the hour-long tours begin at 4, 5, and 6 p.m., and on Saturdays, they run hourly from noon to 4 p.m. A free 30- to 40-person tour will be combined with other smaller groups for parties of up to nine people. Groups of 10 to 40 people can book a private tour with pre-purchased add-ons like cocktails for $13 per person.
