About San Antonio College (Alamo Colleges)
San Antonio College is a college that serves and promotes a multicultural community’s education and lifelong learning needs. It is one of the oldest community colleges in Texas that was founded under the auspices of the University of Texas as a University Junior College in September 1925.
In order to fulfill its vision and purpose, the college is committed to building individual and collective character through the following set of values. Today, San Antonio College is a comprehensive college of career and technical classes. It’s goal is to enable the college community to thrive by serving a diverse and internationally networked society’s post-secondary learning needs.
San Antonio College offers high-quality general education, liberal arts and sciences, professional education, continuing education, and education in progress. This provides a rigorous program in liberal arts designed to meet the criteria of a baccalaureate degree for the first two years. For transition to four-year colleges, there are more than 75 Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching, and Associate of Science students. The college also offers certificates and Associate of Applied Science degrees in 47 different fields of technical / occupation.
The department of SAC Physical Sports offers intramural and extramural events on time. Extramural events are organized team sports in which teams compete with the public schools of Alamo Colleges and other collegiate teams based in the South Central Texas region. Team sports in which teams compete with other teams organized within the college are structured intramural events and are also held on campus.
A wide range of subjects and activities can be undertaken by students attending SAC. As a community college, SAC allows students to obtain degrees and certifications from affiliates and take courses that can be applied to many higher education institutions. SAC offers 64 different degrees of associate and 68 certificates. The college has more than 300 2 + 2 articulation agreements with separate universities and colleges. The 2 + 2 articulation agreements are designed to facilitate students ‘ enrollment and academic transition from participating community colleges such as SAC to a participating four-year college or university in Texas. When students advance towards the completion of the associate degree successfully, this agreement guarantees a seamless transition of the course work of the student and supports the student by increasing the number of transferable hours.
