Attractions in San Antonio – Pearl District and Farmers Market | Bandera CBD Store

312 Pearl Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78215, United States

The burgeoning Pearl District of San Antonio has the idealistic feel of a college campus but with bike sharing and young adults that are well-dressed instead of Ultimate Frisbee and lounging co-eds. Understandable. The pedestrian-friendly renovation scheme, landscaped with small water-requiring indigenous plants, spans 16 city blocks and once housed the large Pearl Brewery, which closed in 2001. Billionaire Christopher Goldsbury has since turned this tree-lined pocket into a hip neighborhood on the banks of the San Antonio River where the Culinary Institute of America and a handful of intimate restaurants sit on.

The new ownership had a vision of reinvigorating the structure and building a lively meeting place in the area, offering residential and commercial projects that both preserved the Pearl’s rich history and set themselves apart from the other tourist spots in San Antonio. In addition to hosting numerous yearly cultural activities, such as Tamales! at Pearl and Echale Latino Music Estyles, they have preserved the heritage of the Pearl Brewery, reworking the buildings as well as industrial equipment such as ammonia tanks for herbal gardens and brewery tanks as rainwater collectors.

Pearl is also known for its stores, including The Sporting District, The Twig Book Shop, The Tiny Finch, Adelante Boutique, Ten Thousand Villages, LeeLee, Dos Carolinas, Leighelena, Niche at Pearl, and Bike World. San Antonio Hispanic Chamber, Nature Conservancy, San Antonio Area Foundation, RBC Securities, CE Group, Inc., WestEast Design Group, KGB Texas, and The San Antonio Business Journal are notable office tenants at Pearl. The Can Plant provides contemporary urban accommodation with a place in history. The Cellars are high rises offering excellence in hospitality and cuisine, impressive living spaces, concierge-curated services, and more. Space for the events includes the historic Pearl Stable.

The Pearl offers a ton of things to see and this includes the Farmer’s Market. All sellers come from within a 150-mile radius and sell both new, organically grown produce and handmade products. It was recently dubbed “Best Farmers Market” by the San Antonio Current. The Pearl Farmers Market is situated in front of the old Brewhouse and now stretches down Pearl Parkway thru Avenue A. There is additional car park under Hwy. 281 and along Grayson Road. Every Saturday and Sunday the market hosts 45 + sellers with items ranging from farm fresh produce and dairy to honey, salsas, and gourmet sweets. The prospective seller undergoes a rigorous application process and is extensively screened, including site visits and taste tests when applicable, to ensure the integrity and consistency of the producer’s only farmer market. The Board of Directors of the Pearl Brewery Farmers Market Association shall decide on the applications.

Pearl Farmers Market provides “Veggie Valet” for customers who purchase products on the Farmers Market and want to keep them when shopping on. An exclusive service is available during Saturday’s Farmers Market hours, and is free. Customers are expected to pick up their products 15 minutes before market ends. Veggie Valet is situated at the Mueller and Karnes intersection, just find the marker or inquire about it at the Farmers Market info booth.
