O’Connor High School was opened in 1998, in keeping with the tradition of all Northside high schools named after Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman justice in the Supreme Court of the United States, who served from 1981 to 2006. The colors of the school are marine blue, white, and the panther is the mascot. Dr. Ken Patranella who served between 1998 and 2003 was the first principal. Mr. Larry, who served as manager between 2003 and 2009, succeeded him. In Mr. Martin’s memory the O’Connor Library is named. The current leader is Ms. Jacqueline Horras. O’Connor High School serves the whole city of Helotes and a small part of San Antonio’s broader central city. There are 15 calcareous buildings on the campus, and most of the promenades are outside.

The Texas Education Agency classified the school as Met Standard in 2017. Sandra Day O’Connor is the first female in the United States to be named as a high school student. High Court was born in El Paso, Texas on 26 March 1930. Her parents Harry and Ada Mae, in south-eastern Arizona where O’Connor grew up, were the founders of the Lazy B-Cattle Ranch. O’Connor’s parents sent her to live in El Paso with his mother’s grandma, so formal education became difficult in the isolation ranch.
