Bent Creek’s 6,620-yard, par 71 course has provided a pleasant and difficult golf experience for residents and visitors alike since its opening in 1989. Bent Creek’s meandering topography, designed by famous architect Bobby Weed with advisory assistance from Mark McCumber, brings golfers through a designated Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, towering trees, and beside creeks and swales. The championship course has Bermuda grass greens, plush fairways, and the Bent Creek Golf Academy’s state-of-the-art lighting practice facility.

The Cecil Commerce Center in Jacksonville, Florida houses the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, an equestrian facility. It has a 4,000-seat indoor multi-purpose arena known as Championship Arena, two outdoor competition arenas, two outdoor warm-up courts, a grass arena, 426 permanent stalls, and 70 Full-Service RV sites. The facility first opened its doors in March of 2004, and it now hosts a variety of horse-related activities. It was planned to be the home of the National Indoor Football League’s Jacksonville Pelicans in 2007.

The center is part of the Cecil Recreation Complex, which is Jacksonville’s most extensive recreational complex. The restoration, which cost $25 million, was part of the Better Jacksonville Plan of 2000. The facilities are managed by the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department. They’ve held everything from dressage to rodeo, as well as the Royal Lipizzan Stallions and the 4-H annual horse exhibition. Monster truck displays, demolition derbies, music concerts, and band camps are examples of non-equestrian events.

Herlong Recreational Airfield, also known as Herlong Field and subsequently Herlong Airport, is a public airport in Jacksonville, Florida, United States, situated eight nautical miles (13 kilometers) southwest of the city’s central business area.

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) owns all four public airports in the city and operates Herlong as a Fixed-Base Operator (FBO). During World War II, the airfield was created to help the Navy and Air Force with pilot training. The property was transferred to the city after the war, and thereafter to the JAA.

Herlong Recreational Airport (HEG) has been the home of Jacksonville’s aviation enthusiasts since the 1960s. It is Northeast Florida’s primary venue for light sport aircraft, skydiving, gliders, and other experimental aircraft. When flying into Herlong, expect to see everything from a Goodyear Blimp to a citation jet. Herlong Airport, located southwest of downtown Jacksonville, is ideal for both seasoned pilots and beginners.

The North Florida Kart Club has been active at the facility since its inception, and its fundraising efforts have aided in its upkeep and park upgrades. At the venue, the club also stages regional and national karting races. Every year, karting families from all over the east coast and the Midwest flock to the 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville to participate. The 0.5-mile track is widely regarded as one of the most popular kart tracks in the eastern half of the country, because of its unusual layout that includes a 1,000-foot straightaway, banked “Monza” curve, and rapid corners.

Chaffee Trail Elementary is a public elementary school in the Duval School District in Jacksonville, Florida. It has 740 students enrolled in grades 1 through 12. Chaffee Trail Elementary is Florida’s 714th biggest public school and the 6,382nd largest in the United States. At Chaffee Trail Elementary, 69 percent of kids scored proficient or above in arithmetic, while 53 percent of students scored proficient or above in reading. There are 15.4 students per instructor.

The Camp Milton Historic Preserve, which is located in west Jacksonville, gained prominence during the American Civil War, which lasted from April 1861 to May 1865. In February/March 1864, nearly 8,000 men landed at the location to form the initial line of defense against the Union forces in Jacksonville, and three miles of earth and timber fortifications were built along the west bank of McGirts Creek. The camp was named after Florida’s governor during the Civil War, John Milton (1807-1865). Following the discovery of a part of the surviving earthworks in 1973, efforts to acquire the property began. The state of Florida bought the first parcel in 1981 and leased it to the city, which eventually gained further land thanks to Preservation Project Jacksonville and its non-profit partners’ efforts. In the summer of 2006, the primary development project was finished, and the new preserve opened to the public.

Camp Milton Historic Preserve has a state-of-the-art teaching center with Civil War relics, McGirts Creek Bridge—a reproduction of a “campaign bridge,” a wooden boardwalk leading to Civil War earthworks, and a genuine 1800s Florida homestead. The Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail passes through Camp Milton Historic Preserve around midway.

The newest sports arena in Jacksonville caters to individuals with a demand for speed. The WW Ranch Motocross Facility is a 145-acre park in the Westside that is located on a local family’s farm.

The park is the realization of a long-held family ambition to own and run a local motocross track. The park was designed by Wayne Jr based on a concept by his late father, Wayne Sr. The track has a loamy soil, sand, and clay terrain combination. The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Florida National and the FIM MXGP of USA were recently held at the park.

WW Ranch provides a variety of unique activities and amenities, including year-round camping for motocross and camping enthusiasts. The ranch is home to a variety of animals, including cows, chickens, llamas, and peacocks. The ranch conducts motocross events with accommodations for spectators and competitors (Loretta Lynn SE area qualifying, Annual Florida National, Florida/Big Deal Series, AMA Fastest in Florida State Championship/Pro Am). An air-conditioned party hut with food, private facilities, and pit passes are available in the VIP section. Check out the infield track viewing through the track tunnels if visitors want a more immersive experience.

The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is a museum located in Jacksonville, Florida. After the death of Ninah Cummer, who gave her gardens and personal art collection to the new museum, it was established in 1961. Ninah’s original garden plans and a piece of her home with its vintage furnishings are currently on display at the Cummer Museum, which has now extended to encompass the land held by her brother-in-law. Annually, 130,000 people visit the museum and gardens.

Over 5,000 works of art from 2100 BCE to the twenty-first century are part of the museum’s permanent collection. The museum’s collection is particularly strong in European and American paintings, and it also has significant Meissen porcelain holdings. Art Connections, the museum’s award-winning education department, contains a number of interactive educational installations and offers programs to underprivileged and special education kids.

On the museum grounds, there are three flower gardens, the oldest of which dates from 1903. The Olmsted Brothers, Thomas Meehan & Sons, and Ellen Biddle Shipman developed these gardens, which have been conserved in their original configuration for over a century. On the National Register of Historic Places, the Cummer Gardens are listed. Cummer Gardens is a National Historic Landmark.
