The Marietta Museum of History, located in Marietta, Georgia, welcomes you. The galleries and exhibits of our museum, which has been open since 1996, are located on the second floor of the historic Kennesaw House building. The Museum has the most artifacts relating to Marietta and Cobb County's history.
Built in 1845 as a cotton warehouse, the Fletcher House Hotel was remodeled in 1855 to become the Fletcher House Hotel. During the Civil War, the hotel was used as a makeshift morgue and hospital. As a result, the structure has become the subject of numerous stories and local ghost legends. As a result of his celebrity, he has appeared on CNN, The History Channel, and PBS.

- Since 1996, the Marietta Museum of History has welcomed over 300,000 visitors from all 50 states and around the world.
- The Marietta Museum of History's Education Program welcomes school tours all year. Since 2000, we've hosted over 75,000 schoolchildren on field trips. For more information, visit our Education Page.
- Mentorship has been provided by the Marietta Museum of History for the establishment of museums at Lockheed, the Strand, Zion Church, the Marietta High School Foundation, the Marietta City Fire and Police Departments, and Turner Chapel.

Museum Store
On your next visit to the square, stop by the Museum Store, which is located on the first floor of the Kennesaw House. A wide selection of books and cookbooks, as well as mugs, magnets, and other gift items, are available inside. The Marietta Museum of History Museum Store has a wide selection of Big Chicken souvenirs as well as Marietta-related items. Replica antique toys, paper dolls, children's costumes, and coloring books are all available in the store!
The Museum Store has authentic Civil War era bullets for sale, which will surprise museum visitors. In the Museum Store, you can purchase your own piece of history, and remember that members receive a 20% discount! The Shop is open to the general public. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Galleries
The Marietta Museum of History has 28 galleries that feature artifacts related to Cobb County's history. The galleries range in size from small, intimate spaces where visitors can explore a single artifact or topic up close to large exhibition areas with interactive displays and multimedia programs for all ages.
Directions
The Marietta Museum of History is located at the historic Kennesaw House, just steps west of the historic Marietta Square. We are located next door to the Marietta Welcome Center, facing the railroad tracks. Parking is available in the two hour public parking lot on the corner of the 120 Loop and Mill Street.
