JF Gregory Park Trail
521 Cedar Street, Richmond Hill, Georgia 31324, United States
Â
J.F. Gregory Park is a 335-acre multi-use recreational area that was once a thriving rice plantation and was later purchased by Henry Ford. The park, named after Ford's plantation foreman, was built beginning in 1998.
The park now includes the Wetland Education Center, a birding trail with a tower, the restored Henry Ford home, a 10-acre lake, and a covered pavilion, in addition to the 3-mile nature trail. You can also fish, picnic, canoe, and play sports here, and there are fitness stations along the trail.
The Richmond Hill community clearly takes pride in this beautiful park, as many different groups contributed to its creation and upkeep. The local garden club, historical society, city planners, and private donors all worked together to create historic landscaping, restore the Ford house, and build the trails, bird watching tower, pavilion, and wetlands center. A bridge and a memorial to veterans have also been built.
The J.F. Gregory Park Trail is a part of the Coastal Georgia Greenway, which also connects the Georgia Coast Rail-Trail (White Oak) and the Georgia Coast Rail-Trail (Black Oak) (Woodbine Riverwalk).
