CBD Tincture: Uses and Benefits
If you are like me that at some point couldn’t tell the difference between CBD oil and CBD tinctures, I think you should pause for a moment and read through.
You already know about CBD, don’t you? About its outstanding benefits and the many successes it has recorded with helping people live better and stay illness free? I am sure you do and since that’s the case, let’s dive right into what CBD Tinctures are about, how you can use them and how they would benefit you.
What are CBD Tinctures?
The word ‘tincture’ depicts any medication kept in alcohol arrangement. While derived from hemp, CBD tinctures are not the same as CBD oil.
CBD tinctures are CBD potions suspended in 60 – 70% alcohol. CBD extracts are combined with any of alcohol, glycerin, or cinnamon/peppermint oil to make CBD tinctures. Unlike CBD oil, tinctures contain low potency of CBD, have longer shelf lives, quicker absorption rate and a greater bioavailability due to their mode of consumption; sublingually (taken under the tongue so that it can go straight into the bloodstream).
How to Use CBD Tinctures
CBD tinctures are versatile. They can be used in different ways and forms. They can be ingested, placed under the tongue or blended in smoothies, but whatever way you choose, you should only take it in small doses due to its high concentration.
Placed Under Tongue: CBD tinctures were actually meant to be ingested sublingually because of the numerous blood vessels right under the tongue that allows it to enter the bloodstream directly. To place it under the tongue, use the dropper, release a few drops under your tongue and hold for a few minutes. You should feel it absorbed into your body in that time.
Swallowed: although this is not the most advisable method, but tinctures can also be swallowed – only that they won’t offer the same bioavailability as when consumed under the tongue.
Blended: You can blend the tincture into everyday food and drinks. You can add it to your morning smoothie, dressings, or soups but, at the same time, avoid cooking CBD products since high heat can diminish CBD potency.
Benefits of Tinctures
- They have higher bioavailability
- They have quicker absorption rate; this means that you would likely feel the effect of CBD faster with tinctures than when you use other products.
- CBD dosing is much more feasible with tinctures (due to their droppers) than most other products.
- They are easier to carry around and use discreetly.
Final Thoughts
If you are just starting out with CBD, tinctures are a good way to start. They allow you properly measure your dose, and are very effective and better with monitoring measurable progress.
