The name “Magnolia Park” comes from the many magnolia trees that grow in the area, while “Blueberry Hill” refers to the blueberry bushes that used to grow in abundance on a hill in the center of the neighborhood.
The Magnolia Park/Blueberry Hill neighborhood was originally settled by Native Americans who lived in small villages along the Savannah River. When European settlers arrived in the 1600s, they began clearing the land for farms and plantations.
